The 2nd meeting of CETEG was held in Lučenec, Slovakia, April 22-25, 2004 and organized by the Slovak Geological Society.
The location of the conference near the Slovak-Hungarian border attracted a large number of Hungarian colleagues who for the first time participated at the CETeG meetings. They expressed wish to join CETeG. To overcame a language barrier and in compliance with the CETeG mission, the CETeG founders and organizers decided to establish English as the official language. The meeting started with a pre-conference field trip “The Structure and Metamorphism of the Meliata Unit” devoted to the geology and tectonometamorphic evolution of the southern margins of the Inner West Carpathians. The conference ended with a post-conference field trip dedicated to “Volcanic and Subvolcanic Lava Bodies – Structural Aspects”. The two-day conference embraced more than 80 talks and poster presentations. Traditionally, abstracts and excursion guides were published by the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as a special issue of GeoLines (2004, vol. 17).
