On the occasion of opening new CIP lab in Prague, we cordially invite you to the short course:
GEOMATERIALS − quantitative analysis of microstructures and textures
(Prague 30.5. - 2.6. 2011)

Dr. Ralf Hielscher (Faculty of Mathematics, Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany)
Prof. Reneé Heilbronner (Institute of Geology & Paleontology, Basel University, Switzerland)
The short course will take place at the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology in Prague from Monday 30.5. to Thursday 2.6. 2011 with following program:
- Monday - quantitative microstructure analyses via PolyLX MATLAB toolbox by Ondrej Lexa
- Tuesday - quantitative texture analyses via MTEX MATLAB toolbox by Ralf Hielscher
- Wednesday - acquisition of crystallographic data of optically uniaxial minerals via Computer Integrated Polarization microscopy CIP by Reneé Heilbronner
- Thursday - examples and practicals
The participation fee in the amount of 40 EUR will be used to cover travel expenses of invited lecturers. The participants are asked to bring their laptops with MATLAB (version 7.1 or higher) installed. The number of participants is limited to 25.
